Guest Blogger Day #3

Today's guest blogger is. . . Lauren!!

Look out Brenda Song(London Tipton)! Take a hike Ashley Tisdale(Sharpay Evans)! South Adams Middle School's Drama Queen is here! Today I'm going to tell you all about my theatrical life. Now, where do I begin?
I've been in the school's choir since fourth grade (I'm now in sixth grade), and have participated in every musical. In fourth grade I was a chorus member in Treasure Island. Then, in fifth grade I was a Town's women in The Legend of Sleepy Hollow. And finally in sixth grade I was a flirt in Princess and the Pea! Plus I got to play somebody else's part too. It was all a great experience.
I hope to participate in more school musicals. Maybe even get a leading roll in my high school musical. Who knows? I may even go to Broadway someday! So for all of you who are trying out for anything theatrical (or trying to be like me). . . break a leg !

coming soon . . . SPRING!!!!

Yeah!!! Yesterday Ubby, Boog and I were outside playing and I decided to take a look at the flower beds--we have a lot of clean up work ahead but I was so excited to see...

GREEN!!!!

Yes--flowers are coming back!! I am not sure why I am so excited. God sends them back every year. It really adds a lot of work to my load, but I love to be outside playing in the dirt. I have already started think about what to plant in my flower pots this year. I may need to be thinning out some of my perennials so if anyone is interested. (just a note: I did thin a lot out last year so I will not have tons!)

However, cousin Kelley gave me some new pods to plant and I just can't seem to stay away from the garden section at Lowe's or Wal-Mart. I really love that some of the Amish greenhouses now have more perennials! I thought I would try to get away from planting a lot of annuals but the annuals give you color almost all of the time, so you have to have them. I also noticed on my walk through the flower beds yesterday that the weeds are greening up too. :( Oh well you gotta take the good with the bad.

Ubby in King Kong

Ubby's videos have reached over 1,100 views on Tangle(the new name for Godtube). Check out Ubby in his new video!

Landon creates this awesome footage for us. In the beginning of the movie, it is stop motion and Ubby's Megablocks build into a skyscraper. Then Ubby comes in as King Kong and wrecks the tower. It is black and white and has a vintage look to look like the old King Kong movie. This video has a blooper at the end!

The Book Report

When you think of parenthood you think of babies, bottles, car seats--did you really think about the other stuff that comes with being a parent? Did you ever think about the hours you would spend waiting for the bus, overdue library books, trips to the dentist office or BOOK REPORTS?

Never did I even think about book reports when I thought about having kids. Now, I have help complete more book reports than I have ever even imagined! The bad news is half of my kids haven't even started doing book reports!

When I was in school I remember doing a couple of them. It wasn't too hard you sit down with a piece of notebook paper and report on what you have read. At the time it seemed like a lot to ask, but, you did it. I even remember being in the 6th grade and doing a report on Ramona Qumiby age 8. I had to dress up like Ramona and tell the story as if I was her. I guess they still do that Landon did one of those in the 5th grade of course he was not Ramona.

But we have made mobiles, board games, card games, filled a sack with 3 items that relate to something in the story, made a mini scrapbook and the list goes on and on. But the book report I helped with last night was the largest one we have ever completed. The assignment was a time line. That isn't hard-- we have done time lines before. So off and on all day I thought about different ways we could do it-Logan was maybe going to be bringing home the paper to put it on.

When Logan came of the bus, he was carrying a roll of paper that would cover a table, I was shocked we had never done a time line that large. Thankfully we were able to trim it up a little. We worked on it several hours--the Internet has made book reports so much easier--you can print a picture of anything you want.
Our book report, (I mean Logan' book report) on Who was Ronald Reagan? is now done. It left on the bus this morning! Hopefully it arrived safely to school.

Hopefully Logan (and Landon, Lauren and Lyndsi) arrived safely too. You know you can really get attached to these reports. I am considering e-mailing Logan's teacher to see if she has them graded yet. Just kidding -- she isn't there today. I guess I'll have to wait. (Maybe I can e-mail her Tuesday.)

I am considering starting a side business: BOOK REPORT AID. I could help give tips and ideas. Maybe I'll start smaller and just have a hot line for parents who just want someone to talk to!!!

Family Fun

WOW!! That was a weekend to remember!!

Uncle Tim and Aunt Sheryl were home from Colorado visiting---along with cousin Lydia and her boyfriend Alex! What a great time --we had 2 evenings of food, fun and fellowship. I cannot imagine what they will go home to tell their friends. This is Alex's second visit to Indiana--I wonder what he tells his family about us. We are just normal people--right???

Maybe it is just that there are a lot of us? We eat and have fun just like everyone else. OK maybe we did have a lot to eat this weekend. That could be why food doesn't even sound good today!!

On Saturday evening, we spent time with Grandpa Gerber's brothers and sisters and their families.

Sunday evening was a little less formal. We went to Blare and Janel's for supper! Grandpa and Grandma provided Pizza King pizza for the group! Always a treat-Tim, Sheryl and Lydia love Pizza King so when they are home that is usually what is on the menu.

It is always nice to spend time with our family. We are truly blessed to have such a great family. Whether its the Aunt and Uncle you see once or twice a year or the cousin you only live 1 mile from, family is such a wonderful thing.

Thanks Grandpa and Grandma-- you have given us so much!! Thanks for the memories!!

Thanks too to Blare and Janel for opening up your home to us. Hope your basement is drying out! Sorry you missed out Rex it was a good time! You were missed!!!

World Relief

Last night, I went to World Relief Projects at church. I enjoy going, it is sometimes hard for me to leave after supper. It is always such a blessing to g0 and once I am there, I'm sure thankful that I did.
Enjoy some of the pictures from my outing!! Knotting comforter!!Sometimes it pays to be small.

We made pillowcases for kits being sent---OK I don't know where they are going--but we made pillowcases!!
Many hands to get the work done!!!
I think if you count we had 8 ladies sewing last night!

There are even jobs for those that don't want to sew!
Of course it wouldn't be an Apostolic event if we didn't have a snack!!

A chance to sit down with ladies and chat about what's new!

We accomplished a lot last night. We completed 42 pillowcase, 2 flannel blankets and knotted 3 comforters! Also we replaced several sewing machine needles, made many parts for pillowcases and how can you count the fun and fellowship???
It was a great time with old friends and a chance to get know a few ladies better!! Thanks for a great time girls!!!

the simple things

Recently, we had two problems in our home. Neither of them serious, but still they needed to be addressed. One of the little girls was having problems getting the shampoo out of her hair at bath time and the shower head in the middle bathroom wasn't working right. Little did I know that one small investment could take care of both of our problems.

We first made a trip to Lowe's and invested in this awesome new shower head. If you have one of these you know what I am talking about. If you don't -oh my- this has changed shower time forever here at the Lehmans!!Font size
This removable shower head works great to get the shampoo out of your kids hair easily!!! Here is Logan giving us a demo on how it works!!
It also makes cleaning your shower a lot easier and almost makes cleaning the shower fun.
I did say almost, I don't want to mislead anyone.
According to my plumber, Matt, he says that it was really easy to install. Also giving credit where credit is due, Matt also changed the bath spout! Don't you love a good plumber!!!
Now this is not a sales ad, however, if you are in need of a new shower head I highly recommend the removable one.
