A funny story?

Last week, I was at the gas station filling the truck with gas. I was alone. The kids were all at home. (Important to remember) School was closed due to snow.

So anyway I am filling the truck with gas. It is freezing cold (not that important). When one of the workers comes out to check the trash cans. You know the trash cans that are maybe a foot from the the row of gas tanks. OK-- so she is checking the one next to my pump and I notice. She is SMOKING!!!!! Yes, she has a cigarette in her mouth while she is checking out the trash.

OK--at this point I am thinking boy--isn't this dangerous??

So what do you think I did? What would you do?

She starts to remove the garbage can liner--it is windy and cold. Then she decides to put that liner back in.

Thinking it might be rude to tell her that it is extremely dangerous to be smoking next to the gas pumps. If I really wanted to be a friend I would tell her that smoking is extremely dangerous.

Well as I am freezing and not sure what Ms. Manners would do. I do the only thing I could think of when I only had feeling in one of my hands. Yes, I helped her put the trash liner back into the garbage can and told her to have a good day.

Now--in my defense--I did call back to the gas station later and tell a worker. I am thinking that I might call back again and talk to a manager.

According to Mom and Deanie--I need to call back and make sure that the manager got the message.

And Matt
agrees.

So what do you think? What would you have done?

An apron for Becky

Last week my cousin's wife Becky called, wondering if I would be interested in making her an apron. Well, yes!!!! That is like asking a shopaholic if they want to go to the mall.

She was so kind. She gave me very few limitations. She asked that it have a least two colors and a large pocket, other than that, whatever I wanted was great with her.

So I wasted no time--I ran out picked up some very colorful fabric. Snip, sew and pressed and this is what I came up with.

Becky was thrilled and so sweetly let me take her picture to post. Thanks Becky!! I love projects like this.

A new year a new calendar

When we bought this computer several years ago I found this feature that we have called Windows Calendar. You can print calendar pages for a weeks, a day or month. I thought it was fun--but it wasn't until last year that I really fell in love.

You see I was always looking for the perfect calendar--either the one's store give away or the cheap ones you can get for $1-$2. So sometimes it would be the second week of the new year and I still didn't have a calendar. But Windows Calendar changed all that!!

You see just print them when you want them. So in August when we scheduled our 6 month dentist appointments. I came home printed the February calendar and put our appointment sticker on.

As you can see there is a the calendar is almost 8 1/2 X 11 so I print on white card stock then I trim it down a little and take a piece of 8 1/2 X 11 colored card stock and glue it together. Three hole punch it. Then with some rings I keep them together hang them with 3 large magnets and they are on the fridge so everyone in the family can find it!!!

Just love this and wanted to share this idea with you guys. Hope you have a great weekend.

Snow day

Well, I hope that you all had a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. I can't believe that it is already the 12th day in January--the first month of the new year is almost half over! WOW and I am just getting around to my first blog post. Oops!

The kids are home from school today! Yes, we did receive quiet a bit of snow; however, I don't think it is really too bad outside.

The kids are enjoying their time off. Today is the first time they have played in the snow since last year. So they are having fun.

All, except Lauren. She has had this bump on her foot for a couple of months--so we went to the doctor today. It was a wart--they froze it the office. Hopefully that will take care of the little wart and we don't have any complications.

Hope you are having a great day.
